Traditional wildfire prevention measures primarily rely on manual line patrols and ground monitoring stations. However, since power transmission lines often stretch for thousands of kilometers through deep mountains and dense forests, manual inspections are not only inefficient but also prone to blind spots. Faced with this severe wildfire challenge, intelligent monitoring technology is becoming a critical line of defense for safeguarding the power grid.

The moment an anomaly is detected, they immediately sound an alarm, buying precious time for disaster prevention and mitigation.

The core value of intelligent monitoring technology lies in shifting from passive response to proactive early warning. Leveraging a multi-layered network combining “satellite remote sensing, video surveillance, drones, and manual patrols,” the response time of power grid companies across the country to wildfires has been significantly reduced from 60 minutes in the past to less than 15 minutes. Relying on this system, State Grid Hubei UHV Company completed the entire process—from detecting an anomaly to resolving the issue—in less than 10 minutes. In a real-life wildfire emergency, it took only 72 minutes from the detection of smoke to switching the power lines to hot standby, successfully averting a major incident that could have triggered a regional power outage.
