Power Transmission Fault Visualization Assistant: Instantly captures images of line abnormalities, providing full visualization of power outages

When a short circuit causes a circuit breaker to trip, power to the line is cut off instantly. Many operations and maintenance personnel habitually reset the circuit breaker to restore power, believing that once power is restored, the problem is solved—unaware that this merely addresses the symptoms rather than the root cause. Since the underlying cause of the fault has not been thoroughly eliminated, repeatedly resetting the circuit breaker will only continue to wear down the electrical equipment, allowing minor issues to gradually escalate into major line accidents.

The causes of trip faults in transmission lines are diverse and very common in daily operation and maintenance. Factors such as foreign objects entangled in the lines, overhanging trees coming into contact with the lines, abnormal line sag, overheating or aging of line fittings, lightning interference, and damage caused by external construction activities can all trigger short-circuit or ground-fault trips. While many transient tripping events may appear to resolve automatically, the line has in fact already sustained damage. Frequent and indiscriminate restoration of power can easily burn out critical equipment such as insulators and transformers; in severe cases, it can lead to broken conductors, damaged towers, and widespread power outages.

The traditional power line operation and maintenance model has significant shortcomings. Outdoor transmission lines span vast distances and are scattered across numerous locations, and fault points on remote lines in mountainous areas are extremely difficult to locate. When a fault occurs, personnel must manually inspect the entire line, a process that is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive but also extremely inefficient. Furthermore, outdoor line inspections pose significant safety risks during severe weather conditions such as thunderstorms and high winds. Delays in timely inspection and inaccurate fault location often result in missing the optimal window for fault resolution.

Therefore, after a circuit breaker trips, power should not be restored blindly; instead, the fault location must be quickly pinpointed and the type of fault identified. Dingxin Smart Technology’s Transmission Line Fault Visualization System DX-WPS100-GZ01/V1 equips transmission lines with an all-weather “smart inspection eye.” The device features a design that maintains the same potential as the conductors and supports rapid, live-line clamp-on deployment without the need for power outages. It is compatible with various complex outdoor line environments, offering convenient installation and exceptional adaptability.

This device can continuously collect key data—such as line current, operating temperature, and conductor vibration—24 hours a day. Leveraging proprietary intelligent algorithms, it accurately identifies various typical faults, including short circuits, ground faults, broken wires, line icing, and foreign object entanglements, enabling fault analysis and alerts within seconds. Unlike traditional single-data monitoring, the device supports fault-triggered snapshot capture, simultaneously storing fault data and on-site images to provide visual evidence of the fault, thereby completely resolving the challenge of faults leaving no trace.

In terms of functional adaptability and ease of operation and maintenance, the device offers significant advantages. It supports remote manual image capture and real-time monitoring of on-site conditions. Combined with GIS mapping for precise fault location, it enables rapid fault tracing and significantly reduces emergency repair times. Equipped with an ultra-low-power architecture and a high-capacity battery, the device offers long battery life, meeting the demands of long-term unattended monitoring. At the same time, it relies on stable 4G/5G wireless networks for data transmission and supports remote device upgrades and operational status self-checks, making it perfectly suited for complex outdoor operating conditions.

The entire system integrates dual analysis of electrical data and real-time imagery, significantly improving the accuracy of fault analysis. All monitoring data, alarm information, and real-time imagery are uniformly uploaded to the Smart Transmission Platform, enabling line faults to be clearly identified, accurately located, thoroughly investigated, and swiftly resolved. This marks a complete departure from outdated O&M practices such as manual blind patrols and indiscriminate reclosing, and instead employs digital and visual technologies to comprehensively safeguard the safe and stable operation of transmission lines.
